In honor of his retirement from his second career, I thought I'd share the card design my husband created, and I digitalized for use as our cards. The one on the right is this year's card.

:D I did meet him in our life drawing class, back when he still was a better calligrapher than I.

The candle boy was originally drawn (probably in the 60's) with early fiber-tip pens on traditional paper grocery bag. It was during my 'early' Bode period. LOL!

W-wow, quite a bit of history in this one...! Love that lettering; looks like something out of a Middle Age manuscript.

The text, from one of our old Speedball calligraphy manuals, is titled Uncial Gothic; and yes it is based on Medieval letter forms.
