It's cool about the Daily Deviation! I imagine it's exciting. :)

I love this picture. The title is helix and I do see the helix-type figure now, but the small round shapes remind me of a colorful shoal of fish. :) Very pretty! It's kind of Fantasia-esque. I love oil paintings, and watercolors too.

What is the art technique you used for this painting called?

I painted this with the canvas flat on a table, and the class standing around it, where they could see what I was doing and we could have a Q&A while I painted. The background is blended smooth, with a 2" brush, working toward the center of the canvas. I used a round brush and a filbert to sort of stipple in the helix pattern and the other textures. All of the brushes I used, at that time were synthetics.

Hey, congrats on the DD!!  :hug:

I like how you've worked the sense of depth in this image.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is from 1989, right?  If I didn't know better, I'd think it was a description of your past year -- surrounded by darkness, but walking a path toward the light you know is there in the distance...  ;-)

Yes it is. :D It is about 20 years newer than October Country, otherwise known as my miracle painting;
October Country by keight which was painted when I actually got my Associate degree.

Oh my... beautiful!  I love the way the light flows in this one!  As I've said, I have a harder time with abstract work, since I have a harder time getting my head around it, but this one hits at a much more emotional level... lots of them.

    ... as is often the case with miracles. ;-)

The original is Prang tempera on chipboard. Didn't have the funds for illustration board. A class assignment: this just poured out of my brushes, and in all the years since then it hasn't faded, chipped, flaked, or gone moldy. I am continually amazed by it.

Funny when a piece works like that.  Good art usually takes a lot of work, but once in a while, it just seems to "pour out" in ways that are hard to understand, even when we take a moment to step back and look at it.  I think there are some things that just trigger in our soul.  Sometimes there's a spiritual aspect to it too, as if we're "speaking in tongues," but visually rather than verbally.

I guess Someone just has His hand on that old chip board because He wants you to remember what He told you back then.  ;-)

Blessings!

You know, now that you mention it; for artists, authors, and musicians, there are times when our works are responded to as if the given creator of the work is/was "speaking in tongues".

If that is really the way it happens; it isn't too surprising at all. :)

Blessings!

Yeah, I was thinking of it from the artist's perspective, but it can be true from the observer too.  Interesting to think of it that way.

Well, may your work often bring that response in people...

love it -  sense of 'real' space and depth here - rare in an abstract.
