Just Imagine by keight Just Imagine by keight

Okay, I played with that tree piece again, and changed its name, because there was a space I needed to fill for a convention art show. Yes it is going to Westercon 68. Keep in mind that my favorite poetry form is Haiku, and one of my favorite paintings on a Japanese folding screen is of a flock of geese that has just taken off .... the only evidence in the painting is the ripples in the water, and the last goose, straining to catch up with the rest of the group. So, find the dragon. According to an 8 year old in the family there are two dragons in this.

I will probably get banned from my own art shows, some day, for constantly sneaking back in and "correcting" my paintings. That said, the tree canopy looks much better.

Bear with me here; I, our house, and my computer (as a result of our contractors), have been undergoing serious repairs this year. This piece was about 10 minutes from being scanned when I had to pack it away. The new twain for my trusty scanner and I are still learning to communicate.

This is pretty much what it says. I haven't used watercolor pencils since I was in grade school. :D Things have changed a bit in that amount of time.
Original: 10"x14"
Derwent Studio colored pencils
Derwent Watercolour pencils
Prismacolor Pencils
Strathmore Series 300 140 pound Cold Press Water Color Paper
The line art was printed onto the watercolor paper; then I went at it with the pencils. I used the Studio colored pencils for the tree trunk and the Watercolour pencils for everything else. A couple of spots were dabbed with the Prismacolors as well as Copics and acrylics.

Excuse the perceived spam folks, I couldn't figure out how to just update the corrected image, so I re-posted this. The earlier versions will go into my scrapbook.

Well, I can see a tail sticking out there on the left, with a thin, little whisp of smoke giving him away.... Not sure I see anything in the grass, but I can imagine a dragon's face in the canopy of the tree!

The sproot saw the blue flowers as its dorsal spines, with the head and muzzle between the rock, and the path on the right of the tree. He likes Asian dragons.

Yeah, I can see that, with its "tail" wrapped around the tree.    :-)

The one I have trouble seeing, because I know I was painting a cloud, is the dragon in the cloud that another artist sees. ................

I like how the title and description make you stop and take a second look. (And I can see how the possibility of a second dragon could open up even more ways to look at it. Maybe in the shape of the cloud? Or a shadow cast on (or from within) the leaves?)

Really pretty piece.

How does one edit a deviation with a corrected image? I couldn't even move the earlier version to scraps; I ended up deleting it, instead. That wasn't a polite thing to do to the young lady who had "faved" it.

There's a little arrow box thingie up by the top right of the image block on the edit page.  "Change main file."

To change to scraps I select "My scrapbook" as the category.

Thank you. Between having to cope with a slightly different version of Win 7 than I'm used to, and all the new drivers I've had to install, my computer isn't the same machine it was last week. :D I feel like such a dunce when I can't see what is right in front of me.
