One of a series of five pieces using this style and symbology based on occurrences described in the Bible's New Testament. This was also a concept piece for a stained glass window, so it is a bit more colorful than historical documentation would warrant.

More fun with colors. Enjoy.

Are the Gentiles on the right?  The left hand side looks more like the desert.

Yes. This is based on a passage in the book of Romans, chapter 11, verse 11. I used the yellows working into the ochers for the over-arching representation of God, and continued into the browns for the shapes representing the chosen people; who were brought through the desert, and whose weaving samples I was working from, were most often earth tones. The pale shape separating them from the greens, blues and near purples representing the gentiles, is the Christ figure. That color is used throughout the series to represent him.

It would make a wonderful stained glass window. Great idea.

You're so welcome. I would really love to see this in a stained glass window because it would be gorgeous.

I think I'm going to try using bigger solid color areas in my work. It's so effective.

:D I've wanted to see the whole series in glass for years, but I don't know anyone who could handle the project.

That would be lovely.

Hey Kate--I gave the print of this to my pastor and his staff yesterday. They LOVED it! They said it is definitely going up in the office. They just stood and gazed at it, taking in the colors and the symbolism. Way cool. :D :D :D

I am glad to hear that. Art can be so subjective that not everyone can enjoy what we, as individuals do. I once gave a print of Thomas Blackshear's "Watchers in the Night", [link] , to our son and daughter-in-law for our first grandchild's bedroom. All of our family out here loved it and understood the piece. Our son's wife was afraid of the angel. I've no idea what happened to the print.

That is such a cool picture! Reminds me of on by Ron DiCianni, "Spiritual Warfare" [link];print_id=4428 that means so much to me. I have it hanging in our front hall, and every now and then a new of different detail will jump out at me, to speak to me in that particular moment... But yeah, no kidding, art is very subjective.

I know that one. It was part of a calendar that also included Blackshear's "Forgiven" and "Coat of Many Colors", that I gave my husband a couple of years ago.

Kate, this print just came, too--both is perfect condition with the care you take in wrapping them! It's even more lovely in the real thing, here in my hands. The colors and the meanings flow so beautifully.

Hey Keight. I don't think i've had the pleasure of wondering your gallery in a long while. SO here I am and i'm very impressed! This wasn't quite what I was expecting to see, it's so different to what I normally see on DA. Great piece, I love the bold colours - i'm not exactly a fan of the bible i'm afraid so the meaning is slightly lost on me. Either way it's made me happy to look at it so well done :D

Thank you, Ben. There is a whole lot of glorious stuff buried amidst the lovely but usual/common works here on dA. :D

Beautiful! So fluid, in line and colour. I love the tones you've used and the way they speak to each other.
